Last year I tried this method of keeping the deer out of my veggie area.  I placed wooden pallets side by side laying down around the perimeter of my veggie garden. The deer don't want to walk on it. I the middle of this veggie area I also have a cattle/hog fencing arch, which I have my beans, peas, cucumbers climbing up. The deer don't seem to want to jump over the pallets since the arch is so close. I think their depth perception is confused. In another part of this PALLET AREA it is more open for them to jump in and over the pallets, so I am going to make some 7' teepee trellis' (which I will grow Malabar Spinach and some pole bean) and that way I don't think they will try jumping in...again confusing them with depth perception.

Today I added a 3'-4' wire fence around the pallets. I am hoping that it confuses the deer. This isn't a large area, so I am hoping that it feels like jumping into a cage...which they wouldn't like at all. Cry AND THAT'S A GOOD THING!Laugh The fencing and pipes were all FREE from my dumpster diving at our local recycling center.

i let the local  grocery talk me into taking a truck load of wooden pallets. doing to trar some apart, the thin wood i am going to round over one end and the other put a point on it and drive in the ground for a plant border. the 2x4's using for boarders. the whole pallets using to put planting bags on. last time i tear pallets apart.
