For some of my perennials I use chicken wire cages to protect them from the bunnies.  But in doing so, it has shown me that they make a great plant support.  They will last many years. Through the years the 'shininess' will fade and will blend into the garden landscape so they are not so obvious.  I move them around the garden as needed.  First using them on the tulips. Then off the tulips and to another 'bunny loving perennial'.  Some of these cages I leave on all year long.  Like the Oriental Poppies. My bunnies love munching on this early season greenery.  PLUS, the chicken wire supports these 'floppy stemmed' beauties.  Another perennial I leave the chicken wire on all season is the Balloon Flower.  Due to the late arriving  plant, the chicken wire prevents me from stepping on the plants and smushing them.Laugh

Just a couple gardening hints my friends.  Yes, it takes time to make these cages BUT they will last for years.

In my experience, my bunnies will TRY anything.  They might not like it or eat it, but still the damage is done...especially to veggies.  Perennials will grow back from bunny or deer eating. In fact, the plants most of the time look thicker and lush.  The bunnies have taught me a wonderful technique called 'cutting back' for later bloom and shorter plants. As far as veggies and fruits BUNNIES ARE BAD.  :0)
