I ran across this recipe for home made bug spray on a blog I check out daily (http://www.bloombakecreate.com.....off-spray/). It's simply made with lemon balm and cider vinager (she adds lavender too but it's optional). I have made my first batch today so in a week I will let you know how well it works..I hate using deet off so fingers crossed this is just as effective!

Thank you Brenda for this link.Cool I don't know how I missed this but I think it definately is a good use of very aggressive herbs. I have a mammoth supply of jewelweed, which she said is a substitute herb.  Next Spring I will be using my LEMON BALM and JEWELWEED for the mixture.  I will keep a spray bottle down in my work area and one up by the house. That way I can easily reapply it every hour or so. I will surely give her credit for it...labeling it 'LYNDAH'S BUG SPRAY' Thanks again Brenda!Smile

This year I added some peppermint to the jar. It has to brew for a week.  I use this on my skin and DEET on my clothes.

I fill a one ounce spray bottle 3/4 with witch hazel.  I then add 4 drops EACH of these essential oils.  Citronella, eucalyptus, peppermint and lavender. Shake LIGHTLY and spray on skin.

I also make an oil 'bug off' using my infused Lemon Balm oil.  I add the above essential oils.  Same size bottle and same number of drops eso's.
