I am sadCry.  I found the stems of one of my zucchini  plants mushy, it is a goner. Then I looked at my three pumpkin plants. Yup, they too have the SQUASH VINE BORER. I ripped open one of the stems and found the borer. I didn't open the other two plant vines. I was soooooooooo disappointed.  I went on YouTube and found a couple of solutions that MIGHT save the plant and some prevention measures for next year.  So this morning I will look at all the plants in my gardens and at my Mom's. I sure hope I can save the plants. I will slit open the base of the vine where it is mushy and look for the borer. Pull it out and KILL him.Yell Then it says to squish the stem together and bury it in the soil, water it in and hope that it regrows roots.  Some preventative measures are wrapping the stems closest to the soil with nylon panty hose first and then aluminum foil.

Of course, be on the LOOK OUT FOR THE BLACK AND ORANGE flying wasp like bug. That is the squash vine borer.  Wish me luck this morning. Hope I can save at least a couple of the vines. Confused
