HOMEMADE TOOTH POWDER

HOMEMADE TOOTH POWDER

HOMEMADE TOOTH POWDER

¼ cup bentonite clay
¼ cup baking soda
2 tablespoons sea salt
1 tablespoon ground sage
OPTIONAL 15-20 drops of spearmint essential oil (I did not use an essential oil)

Mix until well blended. Store in glass jar. Label jar.

To brush, I put about ¼ teaspoon of extra virgin, organic, unrefined coconut oil in the palm of my hand and about ¼ teaspoon of the HOMEMADE TOOTH POWDER. Mix and brush. If you do not want to use coconut oil, dip your tooth brush in a little water and then in the tooth powder.

This recipe is very beneficial in preventing plaque buildup and promote healthy gums. Bentonite is said to re-mineralize teeth and polishes. Sage is a natural whitener and has natural astringent properties. Sea salt is full of nourishing minerals. Both bentonite clay and baking soda are VERY MILD ABRASIVES. Much milder than most toothpastes. Plus, no fluoride, preservatives or other harmful chemicals.

There are many recipes on the internet for tooth powders. I use this version because I wanted a simple recipe that was healthy for my teeth, mouth & gums. I ‘Googled’ the benefits of bentonite clay and now have added it to my medicinal herb shelf.
